Is Denver a foodie city?
It should come as no surprise that Denver, Colorado, has made it onto the list of some of the top gourmet towns in the United States. Fort Collins, Colorado, on its own, is home to more than 600 restaurants. Over the years, Denver has been recognized with a number of prestigious culinary honors, including one James Beard Award for a local chef.
- These accolades have been bestowed upon Denver’s traditional restaurants as well as some of the best food trucks in the country.
- Which, in case you weren’t aware, is one of the most renowned honors in the field of food preparation and service.
- In a recent poll and study conducted by WalletHub, the city of Denver was ranked as the seventh-best foodie city overall, and this ranking was not just based on the quality of the city’s cuisine.
The cities needed to have some of the greatest food in the world, but they also needed to be relatively easy on the money. Therefore, it is possible to figuratively have your cake and eat it too! In addition, the quality of the cuisine served is not the only thing that is prioritized in Denver.
- They also want the staff of the restaurant to feel respected and invested in the business as well.

Additionally, Denver is tied for #1 when it comes to the number of craft breweries and wineries that it has per population.

Take a trip to Denver, or even simply take a stroll around Fort Collins, and enjoy the delicious food while we still have some vestiges of summer remaining.
This can be done before the weather truly starts to shift.
Is Curry from Birmingham?
What do Melton Mowbray pork pies, Cornish pasties, Parma ham, and Wensleydale cheese all have in common? In addition to providing for a very tasty picnic, they both have the distinction of having their names protected. Those who are not aware with the EU Protected Name Scheme should know that attaining this status enables a regional and traditional product to have the authenticity and provenance of its ingredients verified.
- For instance, even though there are many different kinds of blue cheese, the term “Stilton” may only be applied to blue cheese that comes from cows that were raised in the English counties of Leicestershire, Derbyshire, or Nottinghamshire.
- Andy Munro, a local champion and the author of “Going for a Balti” and “The Essential Birmingham and Midlands Street Balti Guide,” successfully led a campaign to get the Birmingham Balti recognized with the same protected status.
He was tired of seeing the name applied to all manner of curries and supermarket sauces that bore little resemblance to the real deal. A fusion cuisine that was influenced by traditional Kashmiri dishes but cooked in a style that was more attractive to western tastes was developed in Birmingham during the 1970s by Pakistani inhabitants of the city.
- This food, which came to be known as the balti, was produced in Birmingham.
- Because of its recent official recognition, we may soon anticipate that any curry that is made in an authentic manner will be referred to as a “Birmingham Balti,” regardless of where in the world it is prepared, in order to help differentiate it from the numerous imitators that are of a lower quality.
In order for a curry to be considered a Birmingham Balti, it has to fulfill a number of standards. These requirements include being cooked and served in a pressed steel balti dish, as well as including spices such as turmeric, fenugreek, garam masala, garlic puree, and fresh ginger.
